Why won't video ipod play the video, except sometimes it does?

I have a 30 GB iPod on which I have some video podcasts. Usually the video will not play, there is just a still title slide and audio. Two or three times the video of the program actually plays. The last time this happened, I accidentally stopped the play and when I went back to it, there was just the title slide, no live video. Why does this happen?
