trouble with iPod software update

Mac OS 9.2.2 Beige G3

About a month or so ago I received notice of an ipod update in software update. Since it also updated iTunes, I accepted it. However, it won't install. It locks up after the download, and I have to reboot. So I have two related questions:

Anyone have any idea what's up?

And, failing that, is there a way to now say no to this particular update?

Thanks,
-Jim

Re: trouble with iPod software update
You could try tossing the copy you now have and then manually downloading it from Apple's website. Perhaps the verson you have is corrupted.

i don't know if any one else has had this same problem, but with one of my ipods, this same thing happened, wouldn't install the update than froze everything up. With my second ipod, the download installed and now my ipod doesn't work at all. Any ideas?

Re: trouble with iPod software update
when mine wasn't working, i put it into disk mode so it could connect to the computer, than used the itunes "Restore" option. It fixed everything right up. BTW it is the software that is corrupt. If you just want to get it out of disk mode, hold the play and center buttons.
