iPhone - should I wait??

Longtime Mac user here thinking of taking the plunge and buying an iPhone. My only reservations have to do with the still seemingly limited memory (as compared to my video iPod) and the fact that the 3G network access is coming in the fall. Here are my questions.... 1. Will today's iPhones be able to access the ATT high speed 3G standard when its opened up in the fall? 2. Is anyone maxing out their memory currently and if so, approx what number of songs, pics, etc do you have on the phone? Thanks!!

Re: iPhone - should I wait??
In answer to your questions... 1. No... today's phones will not be able to access 3G. It is a completely different chipset. 2. I have maxed out my 8gig phone and have now gone in and started deleting songs. It's not easy for me. I have over 15,000 songs, 93 gigs worth on my 160gb iPod, and generally carry both that and my iPhone. MacRumors is suggesting if you don't absolutely need an iPhone right now, it might be worth waiting until June since that is when the WWDC is and when Apple will probably make a 3G iPhone announcement.

Re: iPhone - should I wait??
I agree that at this point it makes sense to wait. June is when the SDK is released, and when the iPhone 2.0 software will come out (that much has been confirmed). I would not be surprised if that's also when the 3G version is released. Figure that it won't just be the existing iPhone with 3G, since the difference in web browsing speeds will be noticeable, but probably not enough to justify existing iPhone users switching. It will probably come with more new features. Flash memory is getting cheaper, too, so a 32GB iPhone is probably due sometime this year.

Re: iPhone - should I wait??
If you survey the area and see that 3G is up and running in your area then 3G works will be worth the wait. And as I understand it you can tether your mac to your 3G phone with that GPRS thing (which we can't do with the current iPhone). Who in the world needs 15,000 songs on their phone - I could see it if you were going up in the international space station for 6 months...

From what I've read, you should also keep in mind that while the introduction of the new iPhone might come in June, after that it must go through FCC approval, which could push it's availability to the consumer all the way until November or so. The original iPhone was announced in January, but wasn't release until almost July.
